University of Warsaw (UW) is the largest and the leading university in Poland. University of Warsaw is among the top 3% of the world’s best universities according to the global rankings, such as the times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE), the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS) and the Academic Ranking of Worlds Univeristies. The University has 25 faculties encompassing 24 disciplines and offers 37 fields of studies. Additionally, there are over 30 research units.
The University brings together scholars from a variety of disciplines by creating very good conditions for teaching and conducting research. UW employs about 4 thousand teaching and research staff being high level experts in many fields.
University of Warsaw has the biggest experience among other polish institutions in implementing ERC and MSC grants. We have excellent supervisors, high quality facilities and infrustructure, as well as libraries. Moreover, we offer a veriety of courses for researchers, students and other staff.
In 2019 the University of Warsaw won 1st place in the “Excellence Initiative – Research University (2020-2026)” competition run by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (currently Ministry of Education and Science). The University of Warsaw was granted the status of a research university for 2020-2026. This gave the opportunity to raise the level of quality in scientific activity and education and, as a result, to increase the international prestige of the University’s activities.
The University of Warsaw was awarded the “HR Excellence in Research” for adopting the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment if Researchers. Therefore, researchers have a guarantee that the University provides appropriate, friendly and transparent working conditions for its employees.
In 2020 the UW adopted Gender Equality Plan and the 2020–2023 Equality Action Plan.
