Basic info about ERC
The European Research Council (ERC) has supported groundbreaking frontier research ideas since 2007. From day one over 14,5 thousand of projects have received funding. The vast majority of them have resulted in groundbreaking discoveries or major science advances.
ERC Starting Grant
ERC Starting Grant (StG) is addressed at early career researchers of any nationality who are 2-7 years post PhD and wish to start their own independent research career. For the current 2024 eligible researchers must have successfully defended their PhD thesis between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2021. In case you had any career breaks, check the current Work Programme to see if you are applicable for extensions.
2024 StG Call
The current ERC StG call is open with the deadline on 24 October 2023. The budget of 601 million euro will allow for financing approximately 390 individual grants. Visit the call page to get access to all necessary call documents as well as to start project submission.

27 ERC grants were awarded to the University of Warsaw so far. If you consider applying for an ERC Starting Grant and still looking for a host institution, please get in touch with us. Once your project idea is approved, you will get a green light for a common application. More info coming soon.
